Never submit to failure!
Sir Winston Churchill
Last year I lost my job to an American. The position I held was transferred to the U.S.A and I was not encouraged to move with it. Actually, the details about what actually happened are not important. What matters is that I was left without work and my two years working for Cato Networks felt like a failure.
Since I left Cato I’ve been searching for the “next thing”. I’m a generalist with 40 years of experience working in IT. Unfortunately, this means that finding a new position is not very easy. I’m too old for most people’s liking and my two degrees in Computer Science mean nothing to recruiters instructed to look for people who hold the desired Big IT certifications.
So what am I going to do next? Become the Internet’s 13 billionth influencer advocating mainframes? Sell my soul and go into politics? I don’t know the answer yet. However, one thing is certain: I’m going to follow Sir Winston’s advice.
